Fair Housing

The El Paso County Economic Development Department is committed to affirmatively furthering fair housing within our jurisdiction as delineated in our 2022-2026 Consolidated Plan goal AFH4.

Resources

The Fair Housing Act protects people from discrimination when they are renting or buying a home, getting a mortgage, seeking housing assistance, or engaging in other housing-related activities. It also prohibits discrimination on the basis of race, color, national origin, religion, sex, familial status, or disability. Colorado also has our own Anti-discrimination Act that protects us on the basis of sexual orientation, marital status, creed, and income. Most housing providers are also required to make reasonable accommodations and allow reasonable modifications that may be necessary for persons with disabilities to enjoy their housing.
