El Paso County hosts interns in more than 20 different departments, partners actively with college work-study programs, and also supports fellowships.

  • Paid Intern
  • A paid internship is where El Paso County is the employer of record, and uses our existing hiring process to post, interview, and hire a temporary intern, based on your departments needs.
  • Unpaid Intern
  • Work-Study: For a work-study, an educational institution pays a student to work for another employer. Students must be enrolled in classes and qualify through their school to be eligible.
  • Unpaid for School Credit: Some educational institutions require students to participate in an internship for course credit for their chosen degree path, valuing the real-world experience and learning.
  • Fellowship: Some organizations pay employees to work at another organization as a more specialized opportunity for skill development, research, or leadership training.
