El Paso County Assessor Steve Schleiker invites county residents to one of three special open houses to discuss and hear from citizens about short-term rental properties.

“I am a firm believer in transparency and hearing from County residents,” Assessor Schleiker said. “I am holding these open houses about short-term rentals for the same reason I held forums about property taxes earlier this year: the public should have the opportunity to speak their mind about a topic that could have a large impact on our community. A lot of details on this subject are in the hands of the Colorado legislature, but I am committed to doing my part for El Paso County citizens.”

The open houses will provide the opportunity to discuss current Colorado law and the potential impact to those who operate short-term rental properties if the law doesn’t change. A large amount of time will be dedicated to hearing from citizens who may be impacted.
