The El Paso County Clerk and Recorder’s Office is notifying 1,044 Unaffiliated voters of a vendor misprint on their return ballot envelope. The voter’s ballot is not affected and may be voted and returned. On the return envelope the voter’s name, address and barcode are correct. However, on the right side under the phrase “This ballot packet prepared for” the name does not match the name on the address block.

Replacement return ballot envelopes are being mailed from the print vendor to the 1,044 affected voters with a letter of explanation. If a voter does not want to wait for a replacement return envelope, they can use the original envelope as is or they can simply draw a line through the misprinted name and return their voted ballot. If a voter has already voted and returned their ballot no action needs to be taken, their ballot will be processed for counting.

“Elections staff members discovered a print vendor error on a very small amount (0.26% of 391,544 ballots sent) of ballot return envelopes,” said Chuck Broerman El Paso County Clerk and Recorder. “The ‘ballot packet prepared for’ section is not a legal requirement; it is used as a courtesy to prevent voters from using an incorrect return envelope. I can assure you, your ballot is not affected and will be processed.”
