The 114th annual El Paso County Fair is Saturday, July 13, to Saturday, July 20, at the Fair & Event Center in Calhan.

“The 114th edition of the El Paso County Fair will feature amazing entertainment options, many of which are included with daily admission,” said Stacy Starr, Fairgrounds Program Coordinator.

Come see the Camel Kingdom and learn about dromedary camels. Dan Conner and his Reptile Adventures feature an 18-foot python, a 90-pound monitor lizard and 100-year-old alligator snapping turtle. Award-winning magician Jay Mattioli will amaze you with his talent.

The excitement and fun only grows when you attend the evening events: bull riding, auto races, demolition derby, and truck and tractor pull. Those evenings end with live music and dancing with concerts from Mark Powell, Sandy Wells, Curtis Grimes, Exit West, Fire Line, and Ashlee & The Longshot Revival.

Starr said, “We are pleased to present wonderful local bands as well as national touring/recording artists Mark Powell and Curtis Grimes.”

Other entertainment includes the car show, ranch rodeo, petting zoo and the rides at the carnival.

“If you want to be a part of the Fair, there are always fun contests to enter, Texas Hold ‘Em, Garza Farms Dill Pickle Eating Championship, Rizuto’s Ice Cream Eating Contest, Amazing Kids, and the Decorated Stroller Parade,” Starr said.

And don’t forget to check out all the great projects the local 4-H and FFA participants have completed this year. “There are shows throughout the week where they will be exhibiting their animals as well as static tabletop displays,” Starr said.

“While at the Fair, visit more than 70 unique vendors where you’ll find everything from hotdogs to hot tubs, bubbles to a mechanical bucking bull. You can shop for a tractor or trailer. You can even get a tattoo! Our fabulous food vendors have a wide variety of treats in store for you,” Starr said

To purchase event tickets online and for a complete schedule of events go to www.elpasocountyfair.com or call the Fair at (719) 520-7880.

Starr said, “Don’t miss El Paso County Day at the Fair, Monday, July 15, for free admission to the Fair courtesy of El Paso County.”
