Join El Paso County Parks and get outside on National Trails Day, Saturday, June 2. El Paso County Parks invites you to participate in one of the four events scheduled for National Trails Day.

National Trails Day Hike at the Paint Mines

Saturday, June 2, 7:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m.

Join Aiken Audubon President Rise Foster-Bruder for an interpretive hike at the Paint Mines, exploring the hoodoos, discussing the natural and cultural history of the area, and birding along the way. Wear sturdy hiking shoes and dress for variety of weather, bring water, sunscreen, hat, snacks, camera and binoculars (optional). Meet at main parking lot (the one with restroom). Limit 15 participants. Ages 16+. $4 per Nature Center member, $5 per nonmember. Prepaid registration required. Call 719-520-6387 for registration.

Trail Ride with Commissioner VanderWerf

Saturday, June 2, 9:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m.

Join Commissioner Stan VanderWerf for a beautiful trail ride through Bear Creek Regional Park. Bring your horse and appropriate riding gear. Meet at the Norris-Penrose Event Center, 1045 Lower Gold Camp Road. Enter the main entrance of the event center and follow signs to the Equestrian Skills Course parking area.

Bear Creek Nature Center Trails Vegetation Management Project

Saturday, June 2, 9:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m.

Volunteer to maintain trails at Bear Creek Nature Center and help clear vegetation and remove debris along the Song Bird Nature Trail and Bear Creek Trail. Meet at the Nature Center, 245 Bear Creek Road. Bring water and snacks. Wear closed-toe shoes. For more information call Steven Rodbourn at 235-3540.

Get Outdoors Day at Memorial Park
