Trails, Tails and Ales

Black Forest Section 16 Trailhead, 8510 Burgess Road, Colorado Springs
Grab your dog and join us for this special hike! We will be hitting the Black Forest Section 16 Trail, hike the 4-mile trail, and then head to Black Forest Brewing to enjoy a well-deserved beer. Participants will also learn how to taste beer by picking out malt and hops in both flavor and aroma, and learn the basics on how a beer is made from a certified beer judge. Cost is $3 per person, and $2 for members of Black Forest Trails Association and for Friends of El Paso County Nature Centers.
CPR, AED, and First Aid Training
Bear Creek Nature Center, 245 Bear Creek Road, Colorado Springs
Whether your job requires the training, you work with youth or you just want to get certified; these classes are for you. Get the information you need to provide assistance when someone is faced with a cardiac or breathing emergency, or needs First Aid. Upon successful completion, participants will receive certification through the American Red Cross. Must be 16 years old or older, and pre-registration is required.
CPR/AED: Wednesday, January 23, 6:00 – 9:00 p.m.
FIRST AID: Wednesday, January 30, 5:30 – 9:00 p.m.
COST: $50 per class, or $75 for both classes
El Paso County’s Hobby Wine Competition
Do you make your own wine? Are you interested entering your wine in a competition to get valuable feedback on your wines from a competition judging panel? Enter your best homemade wines in the El Paso County Winter Hobby Wine Competition. All entries must be submitted by February 2; cost is $10 per entry. All proceeds from the competition and the awards reception will go to the Friends of El Paso County Nature Centers. For more information go to:
