The Colorado Department of Transportation, El Paso County, and the City of Colorado Springs are working together to complete a study of access points (intersections and driveways) on State Highway 83 from Powers Boulevard (CO 21) to Palmer Divide Road (County Line Road). The study evaluates the existing and future traffic patterns, crash data, and planned development to make recommendations for the future location and types of access points along CO 83. As it is implemented over time, it will lead to improved traffic flow and safety for all users.

The Colorado Department of Transportation and their consultant Atkins in association with the City of Colorado Springs and El Paso County will hold a Virtual Public Open House for the Colorado State Highway 83 (CO 83) Access Control Plan starting on Friday, February 19, 2021, and remaining open for participation through Friday, March 12, 2021.

The Virtual Open House is your opportunity to learn about the study, review the study’s draft recommendations, submit your comments/questions to the project team, and provide valued input to help shape the final recommendations for the study.

This Open House will be virtual due to Covid-19 restrictions. Attendees can log into the virtual meeting any time between Friday, February 19, 2021, through Friday, March 12, 2021, by visiting https://www.codot.gov/projects/co83accessstudy.
