El Paso County licenses geographic information system (GIS) datasets deemed significant County assets. County policy provides valuable geographic information to the public while establishing license schedules to help recover the costs of these datasets.  These datasets are available in 4000’ x 4000’ delivery tiles.  Customers should review terms of the standard county license agreement before they request data and refer to the 2018 GIS Data Distribution Policy for more specifics on pricing.

Elevation contour features come in 2-foot intervals. The original data source is LiDAR Bare Earth data collected in 2011.  The county does not release the original LiDAR data.  The original LiDAR data has a vertical accuracy of 15 centimeters with an average point spacing of 1.4 meters.  GIS Services projects the contours in the Colorado Central Zone in State Plane (Feet) units using the NAD83 horizontal datum.  The vertical datum is NAVD.
